I am so excited to share with you that I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to Uganda this summer, July 9- July 22!
I will be traveling as a member of Team #23 for the Ugandan Water Project to help further their mission of bringing clean drinking water to communities throughout Uganda. As a team, we will be visiting existing rainwater collection tanks to track progress in those communities. We will also be scouting locations for future projects, learning about the communities, and documenting the needs there. Another part of our trip will be spent in the slums of Kampala working with a street child program where we’ve built relationship. We will be helping to meet the basic needs of the community, as well as expressing love and compassion to those we come in contact with.
As many of you know, I have had many opportunities to travel to Guatemala and serve the people of villages surrounding Lake Atitlan. After my last trip to Guatemala, I promised myself that the next time I traveled overseas to serve, it would be somewhere new. It has always been a dream of mine to be able to travel to and serve in Africa. I am beyond excited to be able to experience a new culture, build new relationships, and continue to grow as an individual. This May, I will be graduating from Saint Bonaventure University with a degree in Elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Education, and it is my hope to get involved with International Education in the years to come. I am hopeful that this experience will have a significant impact on my understanding and awareness of the challenges and joys that life brings to those in a very different culture than I have ever experienced before.
I was recently told that, “We are simply winners in a game that was rigged to our advantage from the start.” I have been blessed with family, a home, access to clean water, an education, and so much more. I was destined to win the game of life. Yet, there are so many people around the world who haven’t been blessed with these same opportunities. It is my hope that I will continue to be able to witness the joy that comes to those I am able to serve as they experience just a small piece of the puzzle that sets them a step closer to success in this game of life.
You also have a chance to partake in the journey, both monetarily and in prayer. I am funding this trip completely through donations, with the cost of the trip being $3,500 per person. Although our trip is not until July, we have deadlines quickly approaching to prepare for the trip. I need to have $2,000 in donations by May 15 in order for our team to purchase plane tickets, and full funding due June 26. I am looking for donations for $50 and $100 to help me reach my goal, but of course any amount would be greatly appreciated. I would love to have your partnership and support for this next journey!
Thank you in advance for your prayers and support as I prepare for this new adventure. I can’t wait to come back and share my experiences with you!
