The Ugandan Water Project develops small scale water resources in the Eastern African Country of Uganda. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us
1) How long does it take to install a rainwater collection tank?
Once the funds are deposited in our organization’s account, it only takes about thirty days to completely install a tank and have photographs emailed to our office. This is our target timeline but it can happen faster or a bit slower depending on several variables.
2) How big are the tanks?
Our typical system works with 10,000 liter tanks. This is equal to just over 2,600 gallons. The tanks are about 7ft tall and 5ft in diameter. Each tank provides drinking water for approximately 100 families or 500 students and has a 35 year lifespan.
3) Is the rainwater treated once it is in the tank?
The rainwater is safe for drinking even untreated. Until recently, the challenge has been finding a treatment option that could be economically sustained within the limits of the typical Ugandan income of $1-$2 per day. We are now beginning to introduce simple electrolysis units that convert salt water to chloride and make water treatment affordable.
4) Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes! The Ugandan Water Project operates non-profit organization and all contributions are tax deductible.
